Welcome Week events are categorized into four main types.

  • Signature: Campus-wide events for all first-year students. These events have been created to help support your transition to university life and will help you find your community here at Mac.
  • MSU: Events hosted by the McMaster Students Union.
  • Online: Virtual events.
  • Residence: Events for students living in residence.
  • Faculty: Events hosted by Faculties or Programs.
  • Student Affairs: Events hosted by Student Affairs departments and services.

This list refers to all groups hosting Welcome Week events. For example, if you’re searching for events hosted by your specific Faculty, use this filter!

Kick off your Welcome Week with an introduction to key strategies for academic success. This session will provide an overview of (how to be a success) what it means to be a university learner, with more in-depth sessions on these topics available throughout Welcome Week from the Writing and Academic Skills team. For every Writing and Academic Skills session you attend, you will be entered into a draw to win one of four $100 Campus Store shopping sprees!

Access Mac Tails and Masterpieces

Get ready for a night of color and creativity with McMaster’s Access Program! We’re hosting a Paint and Sip night that’s sure to be a blast! Come for a delicious dinner, and let your inner artist shine as you paint your heart out on a canvas or a canvas bag. Not sure what to paint? Come and make your own custom mocktails to try! Bring your friends and make new ones in a chill, relaxing space. Meet upper year Access students and chat about how the Access Program can support you throughout your time at McMaster. We can't wait to meet you!
